Result
126 showers were installed quickly, safely and to industry standards at the Bielefeld Stayery boarding house thanks to Bette’s clever combined solution. They consisted of shower areas made of glazed titanium steel and pre-assembled minimum tray support in combination with the installation box Easy Connect and the self-cleaning BetteSolid waste fitting. This enabled Friedrich Reitemeier GmbH, the building services specialist commissioned with the installation, to save almost half the time normally required for fitting shower areas such as these.
Project manager Christian Mowe, Friedrich Reitemeier GmbH: “Bette’s solution was processed very quickly. I’d guess that we almost halved the amount of time required for the solutions that we have used in the past. With 126 units as in the case of the boarding house, this is an extremely pleasing saving in time,” says Mowe.
As well as saving time, Bette’s practical solution also offers excellent sound insulation. When mounted on screed with insulation, the 17 dB(A) achieved with the combination of super-flat shower tray and minimum tray support more than meets the increased requirements of sound insulation level 3 of VDI 4100.
Thanks to the glazed titanium steel, the new shower areas are also perfectly prepared for tough daily life in a boarding house with a high tenant turnover. The high-quality material is not only extremely durable and robust – Bette guarantees it for 30 years – but is also very hygienic and easy to care for with its smooth, resistant surface. Furthermore, BetteSolid, the waste system used, is self-cleaning thanks to its special construction with no dead corners or burrs on the inside. Hair and dirt can no longer get caught in the drain or pipe segment behind it, and are simply flushed into the sewer system – reducing cleaning time, cleaning agents and maintenance requirements for the boarding house.
Another benefit is that the installation box Easy Connect means the shower’s drain can easily be checked for leaks at any time. Simply unscrewing the shower drain is all it takes for a quick look inside the box.
Procedure / installation steps
1. Determine the dimensions
Establish dimensions “g” and “h” from the bath rim to the middle of the drain.
2. Position the installation box Easy Connect
Use these dimensions to determine the position of the box and mark it. Glue the box into place and connect to the drain.
3. Integrate Easy Connect in the floor construction
Construct the floor (insulation, impact insulation, screed) and trim the box. The installation height can be chosen anywhere between 105 and 205 mm, and there is no need to line the box.
4. Seal
Glue in the pre-assembled sealing collar that is included in the delivery. Apply the first sealing level to wall and floor, then integrate the sealing collar in the compound seal. Connect the waste fitting and put the cover on. The lid protects the inside of the waste fitting against dirt and damage. Once the tiler has applied the sealing filler, Easy Connect is integrated in the composite seal in accordance with DIN 18534.
5. Fit the tray support and shower tray
The minimum tray support is pre-assembled to the shower area at the works. Apply adhesive and glue the shower tray to the screed.
6. Complete waste fitting, perform final check
Secure the waste fitting, the final inspection – and done!
