Privacy Statement
The protection and security of personal data is a top priority for us. We therefore strictly adhere to the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Below, you will find information on the types of data we collect and the purposes for which they are collected:
Data transmission / Data logging
When you visit this site, our web server automatically stores and processes information in a log file. This process is carried out anonymously; it is not possible to identify you personally. This data is collected solely for statistical analysis. It is not passed on to third parties, nor is it used for commercial or non-commercial purposes.
Cookies
This website uses cookies. A cookie is a small file that stores internet settings. For more information about the cookies used on our site, click here.
Use of personal data
Personal data is only collected or processed if you provide it voluntarily, e.g. as part of an enquiry. Unless there are necessary reasons relating to the processing of a business transaction, you may revoke your prior consent to the storage of your personal data at any time with immediate effect by writing to us (e.g. by email or fax). Your data will not be passed on to third parties unless disclosure is required by law.
Newsletter subscription
If you have specifically signed up for our newsletter, we will use your data to send you regular updates on new products, current offers and our customer services.
To ensure your registration is valid, we require a valid email address. To verify that the registration has actually been carried out by the owner of the email address, we use the ‘double opt-in’ procedure. To this end, we log the newsletter subscription request, the sending of a confirmation email and the receipt of the reply requested therein. The data is used exclusively for sending the newsletter and is not passed on to third parties.
In order to provide you with information tailored to your needs, we collect further information in addition to your email address, such as your country and customer group.
Withdrawal and cancellation: you can withdraw your consent to receive the newsletter at any time and thus cancel your newsletter subscription. Following your cancellation, your personal data will be deleted. Your consent to receive the newsletter will also expire at the same time. You will find a link to cancel your subscription at the end of every newsletter.
Registration form
A registration form for specific events is available on our website. If you choose to use this form, the following data from the input fields will be transmitted to us: first name, surname, company, customer group, country and your email address. Your IP address, as well as the date and time of registration, will also be stored. We require a valid email address for your registration to be effective. For this reason, you will receive an email containing a confirmation link once the process is complete. Once you have successfully registered, you can log in via the login button on the event platform.
The legal basis for processing the data is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR, provided the user has given their consent. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. You also have the option to withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data (see right to object).
Rights of the data subject
Under Article 15 of the GDPR, you have the right to request information about the personal data we process about you. You also have the right to have inaccurate data rectified and to have the processing of your personal data restricted or erased. Where applicable, you may also exercise your right to data portability. If you believe that your data has been processed unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
Deletion of your data
Under Article 17 of the GDPR, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data stored by us, unless processing is necessary for the purposes of exercising the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest, or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Right to object
Where your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, you have the right, under Article 21 of the GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data, provided there are grounds relating to your particular situation or the objection relates to direct marketing. In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which we will implement without you needing to specify a particular situation.
If you wish to exercise your right of withdrawal or objection, simply send an email to: datenschutz@bette.de
Retention period
We store personal data only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the respective purpose of processing. Where statutory retention periods apply to data processed in the context of contractual or quasi-contractual obligations on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, such data is routinely deleted upon expiry of the retention periods, provided that it is no longer required for the performance of a contract or for entering into a contract and/or we no longer have a legitimate interest in continuing to store it. When processing personal data for the purposes of direct marketing on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, this data is stored until you exercise your right to object under Article 21(2) of the GDPR.
Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. However, if IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address will be truncated by Google beforehand within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. These purposes also constitute our legitimate interest in data processing. The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is Section 15(3) of the German Telemedia Act (TMG) or Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The data we send (cookies, user IDs or advertising IDs) is automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has expired is automatically deleted once a month. Further information on terms of use and data protection can be found at https://business.safety.google/privacy/ , https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=de and at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites?hl=en
You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser settings accordingly; however, we would like to point out that, in this case, you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via the following link (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB).
Google Tag Manager
This website uses ‘Google Tag Manager’, a service provided by the following provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (hereinafter: ‘Google’).
Google Tag Manager provides a technical framework for bundling various web applications, including tracking and analytics services, and for calibrating, controlling and conditioning them via a unified user interface. Google Tag Manager itself does not store any information on users’ devices or read such information. Nor does the service carry out any independent data analysis. However, when you visit a page, Google Tag Manager transmits your IP address to Google, where it may be stored. Transmission to servers of Google LLC in the USA is also possible.
This processing is only carried out if you have given us your express consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. Without this consent, Google Tag Manager will not be used during your visit to the site. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please deactivate this service using the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided on the website.
We have entered into a data processing agreement with the provider which ensures the protection of our website visitors’ data and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.
For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with European data protection standards on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.
Further legal information on Google Tag Manager can be found at https://business.safety.google/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=de
Google Maps
On our website, we use Google Maps (API) provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”). Google Maps is a web service for displaying interactive (map) images, designed to present geographical information visually. By using this service, our location is displayed to you, making it easier for you to find your way here.
As soon as you access the subpages on which the Google Maps map is embedded, information about your use of our website (such as your IP address) is transmitted to Google’s servers and stored there; this may also involve transmission to the servers of Google LLC in the USA. This occurs regardless of whether Google provides a user account through which you are logged in or whether a user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be directly associated with your account. If you do not wish for this association with your Google profile, you must log out before activating the button. Google stores your data (even for users who are not logged in) as usage profiles and analyses them. The collection, storage and analysis are carried out in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR on the basis of Google’s legitimate interest in displaying personalised advertising, conducting market research and/or designing Google websites to meet user needs. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, in which case you must contact Google to exercise this right. If you do not consent to the future transmission of your data to Google in connection with the use of Google Maps, you also have the option of completely disabling the Google Maps web service by disabling JavaScript in your browser. Google Maps, and therefore the map display on this website, cannot then be used.
You can view Google’s Terms of Service at https://policies.google.com/terms?hl=en&gl=de; the additional Terms of Service for Google Maps can be found at https://www.google.com/help/terms_maps/
Detailed information on data protection in connection with the use of Google Maps can be found on Google’s website (‘Google Privacy Policy’): https://business.safety.google/privacy/
Where legally required, we have obtained your consent to the processing of your data as described above in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your right to withdraw consent, please follow the procedure for raising an objection described above.
Microsoft Clarity
This website collects and stores various types of user information via the “Microsoft Clarity” service provided by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA (hereinafter “Microsoft”) for the statistical analysis of user behaviour and for optimisation and marketing purposes. This information, which is always anonymous, includes, amongst other things, time zone settings, operating system and platform, the geographical origin of the page view, the referral source when redirected to our site, the duration of visits to specific pages, and information about website interaction (e.g. scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs). Pseudonymised usage profiles may be created and analysed from this data for the same purpose. Cookies are used for collection and analysis. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the website visitor’s internet browser. Among other things, the cookies enable the recognition of the web browser. The data collected using Microsoft technologies is not used to personally identify the visitor to this website without the data subject’s separate consent, and it is not merged with personal data relating to the bearer of the pseudonym.
Collected information may be transmitted to Microsoft servers in the USA and stored there. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Microsoft, whereby we oblige Microsoft to protect our customers’ data and not to pass it on to third parties.
All processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies to read information on the device used, will only be carried out if you have given us your express consent to do so in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by deactivating this service in the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided on the website.
Zoho Marketing Automation
This website uses the software-based marketing service provided by the following provider to deliver and synchronise various customer management services: Zoho Corporation GmbH, Trinkausstr. 7, 40213 Düsseldorf
The service enables the automated processing of feed activities, the management of advertising across marketing channels, and the analysis of marketing campaign performance, as well as centralised email marketing and contact management.
Cookies are used to fulfil these various functions; these are small text files stored locally in your web browser’s cache on your device, enabling us to analyse your use of the website. In doing so, the cookies collect certain information, such as your IP address, location and the time the page was accessed.
Data may also be transferred to: Zoho Corp., USA.
All processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies to read information on the device used, is only carried out if you have given us your explicit consent to do so in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by deactivating this service in the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided on the website.
Other legal bases for data processing that apply in the context of specific service functions (such as the requirement for explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR when sending newsletters) remain unaffected by this.
SalesViewer
This website uses the web analytics service provided by the following provider: SalesViewer® GmbH, Huestr. 30, 44787 Bochum, Germany
Using cookies and/or comparable technologies (tracking pixels, web beacons, algorithms for reading device and browser information), the service collects and stores pseudonymised visitor data, including information about the device used, such as the IP address and browser information, in order to evaluate it for statistical analyses of usage behaviour on our website and to create pseudonymised usage profiles. Among other things, this enables the analysis of movement patterns (so-called heatmaps), which show the duration of page visits as well as interactions with page content (e.g. text entries, scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs). Pseudonymisation fundamentally precludes any direct personal identification. No merging takes place with personal data collected about you by other means.
All processing described above, in particular the reading or storage of information on the device used, is only carried out if you have given us your explicit consent to do so in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by deactivating this service in the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided on the website.
We have concluded a data processing agreement with the provider which ensures the protection of our website visitors’ data and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.
Consent management via Usercentrics
We use the Usercentrics Consent Management Platform as a consent management tool for our website.
The Usercentrics Consent Management Platform collects log file data and consent data (consent yes/no, timestamp, data scope, data attributes, ControllerID, ProcessorID, ConsentID) via JavaScript. This JavaScript enables Usercentrics GmbH to inform you about certain tags and web technologies on our website and to obtain, manage and document your consent. The legal basis for the processing of the data is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for logging purposes and there are no legal retention obligations to the contrary.
You can permanently prevent JavaScript from running at any time by adjusting the settings in your browser, which would also prevent Usercentrics from executing the JavaScript. Further information on data protection at Usercentrics can be found at: Usercentrics Privacy Policy.
Facebook Pixels
We also use the “Facebook Pixel” from the social network Facebook on our website. This enables us to display personalised advertising messages to you based on your interest in our products (“retargeting”). We also analyse the use of our website and attempt to track the effectiveness of Facebook advertising (“conversion”). The data collected in this context may be transferred by Facebook to a server in the USA for analysis and stored there. In the event that personal data is transferred to the USA, Facebook has committed to the EU-US Privacy Shield.
If you are a Facebook member and have permitted Facebook to do so via your account’s privacy settings, Facebook may also link the information collected during your visit to our site with your member account and use it for the targeted display of Facebook ads. You can view and change the privacy settings of your Facebook profile at any time.
If you have not consented to the use of Facebook Pixel, Facebook will only show you general Facebook adverts that are not selected based on the information collected about you. You can object to the use of Facebook Pixel at any time via the privacy settings. To do this, click on the fingerprint button displayed.

YouTube
We use YouTube components on our websites. YouTube is an online video portal that allows video publishers to upload video clips free of charge and enables other users to view, rate and comment on them, also free of charge. YouTube is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. YouTube, LLC is a subsidiary of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.

Retargeting and Remarketing
Retargeting and remarketing refer to technologies whereby users who have previously visited a particular website are shown relevant adverts even after they have left that website. This requires the ability to recognise internet users beyond the website itself, for which cookies from the relevant service providers are used. Previous usage behaviour is also taken into account. For example, if a user views certain products, these or similar products may later be displayed to them as advertisements on other websites. This constitutes personalised advertising tailored to the needs of individual users. For this personalised advertising, it is not necessary to identify the user beyond mere recognition. We therefore do not combine the data used for retargeting or remarketing with any other data.
We use such technologies (from third-party providers) to display adverts on the internet. For this purpose, we use, amongst other things, services provided by Google that enable the automatic display of products of interest to the internet user. This function is implemented using cookies. Further information on Google’s privacy policy can be found here: https://business.safety.google/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy?gl=de&hl=en. The installation of cookies for Google Remarketing and Google AdWords Conversion Tracking can be prevented by adjusting the settings of the relevant browser software (see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads?hl=en-GB) and changing the relevant settings.
Furthermore, we use the conversion tracking technology “Microsoft Advertising” from Microsoft (Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA). Microsoft places a cookie on your computer if you have accessed our website via a Microsoft Advertising ad. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device. These cookies expire after 180 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages on this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Microsoft and we can recognise that the user clicked on the advert and was redirected to this page (conversion page).
The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics, i.e. to record how many users reach a conversion page after clicking on an advert. This tells us the total number of users who clicked on our advert and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, we do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.
You can find further information about Microsoft’s privacy policy at the following web address: https://privacy.microsoft.com/de-de/privacystatement
Microsoft Advertising Universal Event Tracking
This website uses Universal Event Tracking as part of the ‘Microsoft Advertising’ conversion tracking technology provided by Microsoft (Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA).
The legal basis for retargeting and remarketing is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. To withdraw your consent, please deactivate this service using the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided on the website.

We publish details of current vacancies in a separate section of our website; interested candidates can apply for these by emailing the contact address provided.
Applicants must provide all personal data necessary for a thorough assessment, including general information such as name, address and contact details, as well as evidence of qualifications and, where applicable, health-related information. Further details regarding the application can be found in the job advertisement.
Upon receipt of the application via email, the data will be stored and processed solely for the purpose of processing the application. Should we have any queries, we will use either the applicant’s email address or telephone number. Processing is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (or Section 26(1) of the BDSG), under which the application process is deemed to constitute the initiation of an employment contract.
Where, as part of the application process, special categories of personal data within the meaning of Article 9(1) of the GDPR (e.g. health data such as information regarding severe disability status), processing is carried out in accordance with Article 9(2)(b) of the GDPR so that we may exercise the rights arising from labour law and the law on social security and social protection and fulfil our obligations in this regard.
Cumulatively or alternatively, the processing of special categories of data may also be based on Article 9(1)(h) of the GDPR if it is carried out for the purposes of preventive healthcare or occupational medicine, for the assessment of the applicant’s fitness for work, for medical diagnosis, care or treatment in the health or social sector, or for the management of systems and services in the health or social sector.
If the applicant is not selected or withdraws their application early, the data they have provided, as well as all electronic correspondence including the application email, will be deleted no later than six months after notification. This period is determined by our legitimate interest in answering any follow-up questions regarding the application and, where necessary, in fulfilling our obligations to provide evidence under the regulations on the equal treatment of applicants.
In the event of a successful application, the data provided will be processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (in the case of processing in Germany in conjunction with Section 26(1) of the BDSG) for the purpose of carrying out the employment relationship.

- Browser type/version
- IP address
- Operating system used
- URL of the previously visited website
- Amount of data sent

WhatsApp Business
We offer visitors to our website the opportunity to contact us via the WhatsApp messaging service provided by WhatsApp Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. For this purpose, we use the so-called “Business version” of WhatsApp.
If you contact us via WhatsApp in connection with a specific transaction (such as an order placed), we will store and use the mobile phone number you use on WhatsApp and – if provided – your first name and surname in accordance with Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR to process and respond to your enquiry. On the same legal basis, we may ask you via WhatsApp to provide further data (order number, customer number, address or email address) so that we can link your enquiry to a specific transaction.
If you use our WhatsApp contact for general enquiries (such as regarding our range of services, availability or our website), we will store and use the mobile phone number you use on WhatsApp and – if provided – your first and last names in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in providing the requested information efficiently and promptly.
Your data will only ever be used to respond to your enquiry via WhatsApp. It will not be passed on to third parties.
Please note that WhatsApp Business has access to the address book of the mobile device we use for this purpose and automatically transfers telephone numbers stored in the address book to a server operated by the parent company Meta Platforms Inc. in the USA. To operate our WhatsApp Business account, we use a mobile device whose address book contains only the WhatsApp contact details of users who have also contacted us via WhatsApp.
This ensures that every person whose WhatsApp contact details are stored in our address book has already consented to the transfer of their WhatsApp telephone number from the address books of their chat contacts in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR by accepting the WhatsApp Terms of Service when first using the app on their device. The transmission of data relating to users who do not use WhatsApp and/or have not contacted us via WhatsApp is therefore excluded.
For information on the purpose and scope of data collection, as well as the further processing and use of data by WhatsApp, and your rights and settings options regarding the protection of your privacy, please refer to WhatsApp’s privacy policy: https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/privacy-policy-eea?lang=en
In the context of the processing described above, data may be transferred to servers operated by Meta Platforms Inc. in the USA.
For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with European data protection standards on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.
