Our resource and energy management? Simply brilliant!

We are very careful with how we handle nature's resources. How do we manage this? With our own combined heat and power plants, LED lighting, photovoltaics and other innovative technology that we use in our works. However, we also act sustainably outside the factory gates. Why does a Bette truck that supplies baths come back to us with mineral water crates on the loading area? Because we opt for efficient logistics.
Mark Becker, energy manager at Bette

The eco balance of our bathroom products is top-class.

This is due in no small part to Mark Becker, our energy manager, who keeps a close watch over our resource-saving production. So how can a medium-sized company be run energy-efficiently? "By using clever technology," he explains.

For instance, by having two of our own combined heat and power plants that we use to generate the hot water and electricity that we need to manufacture our bathroom products ourselves. Or LED technology. Over a decade ago, we fitted LED lights in all our production halls, warehouses and offices. As the result, we more than halved the electricity consumption for this item. But that wasn't enough for us. And so we adjust these lights according to the daylight. And when there's no one in the room, the light automatically switches itself off.

Our LED lighting alone enables us to save the following in our two logistics halls:

With the power of sun and water

Or solar energy. We have had a photovoltaic system since 2011, and we'll be generating even more natural electricity with additional solar cells. And in many areas and offices, we use the cooling power of groundwater instead of air conditioning. In summer, for instance, we use it to regulate the temperature in our showroom. These are just a few of many examples of how we are reducing our energy consumption here in Delbrück.

Twelve pallets of mineral water instead of five baths

But we also want to do more for the environment away from our site. Which is why we travel the roads with the latest generation of fuel-efficient vehicles. And our 40-tonne trucks, which deliver our bathroom products all over Germany, not come back empty. We prefer to use the vacant loading area for efficient logistics. What does that mean? On the way back, our trucks transport food, steel or machine parts to our logistics partners in the region. Which is why a fully-laden truck going to Bavaria could come back with twelve pallets of mineral water. And not only do we conserve natural resources, but we also save costs.
